Nickel availability

The concept of sustainable development is closely linked to the availability of raw materials. In its 1987 report “Our common future”, the UN Brundtland Commission defined sustainable development as “the kind of development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”. Minerals and metals as non-renewable resources are a focus of the debate, as their availability for future generations is seen as endangered through continuous and increasing extraction. In this context, data on availability are of critical importance.

The Nickel Institute's infographic summarises the current reserve and resource situation for nickel. It demonstrates the availability of nickel for future generations.
